What is the difference between Private Hire Taxi Insurance and Public Hire Taxi Insurance?
Public hire taxis do not require advance booking, which is the primary difference between private and public hire taxis. Taxi insurance for public hire is generally more expensive than that for private hire because the vehicles are usually newer and carry an additional level of risk due to their “on-the-fly” pickup nature.
