The UK’s energy system is in a state of chaos due to the combined effects of numerous market forces that are threatening to wreak havoc on the entire market, from wholesale gas providers to home energy suppliers.
As a result, fears have been stoked that households are going to be saddled with unaffordable bills and gas and electricity suppliers are going out of business across the energy market. One such casualty has been the auto-switching service Flipper.
Flipper goes bust
Flipper announced, on 28th September 2021, that it was withdrawing from the market, ceasing trading and will be closing its business due to sky-high gas prices.
The company said: “You may have seen in the recent media the issues with suppliers ceasing trading due to the heavily reported increase to gas wholesale prices and the subsequent removal of low-cost tariffs which make the switching market work.
“We are very sad to announce that we have withdrawn from the market and will be closing, as we can no longer continue to offer the service promised to you, our loyal members and we can no longer sustain the great savings that as Flipper customers you have come to expect.”
Prices comparison websites, including CompareTheMarket.com and Gocompare.com, have temporarily suspended their switching services due to the difficulty faced within the energy market at the moment.
With customers now left scouring the market for a decent Flipper alternative; the research team at MoneyArk got to work. We have written an article below that compares the best Flipper energy alternatives that you can use instead, each with a summary of the auto-switching energy service so you can find the best one for you.
